• Presley and Cora Lee Bailey were married on December 2, 1940 by Rev. Usry. They had five children: Sanford, Candice, Agnes, Joan, and Margaret.
• Royce Powell was baptized in August of 1940.
• Sidney and Pauline Shepherd were the 600^th couple married by Rev. Usry in 1942.
• Lewis Vernon Choplin was baptized in August of 1943.
• Louise Wheeler and Vernon Pearce were married on March 16, 1944 on Cherry Street in Oxford by Rev. Usry.
• Mabel Powell and Woodrow Wiggins were married January 2, 1946.
• Presley Bailey was ordained as a deacon in 1947.
• Estoy Mangum and Ed Stevens were married May 1, 1948 by Rev. Usry.
• Frances Bailey joined Woodland in 1948, left in 1961, and rejoined in 1993.
• Bessie Lowery and Ruben Lowery came up here in 1948; he was a deacon. They had five children: Henry, Claire, Louise, Carolyn, and Alice Faye.
• Aubrey Woodlief, Jr. (youngest of 12 children) moved to Woodland from Free Union in 1949.

• Carlos and Louise Powell were married at the parsonage on Woodland Church Road June 7, 1957 by Rev. Hollifield.

• Deneise Gail Powell, daughter of David and Polly Powell, was born June 26, 1960.
• The financial report for June of 1961 shows a balance on hand of $3.84. We had on staff a Pastor ($420/month), a Secretary ($240/month),
  a Minister of Music ($220/month), a Janitor ($205/month), and Nursery Workers ($80/month). Treasurer at the time was Mr. J. A. Houser.
• Laura Darch, daughter of Doug and Helen Darch, was born on August 21, 1961.
• Angela Powell, daughter of Carlos and Louise Powell, was born on May 23, 1961.
• Douglas Darch, Jr. was baptized in July of 1962 at Camp Kanata Lake.

• 1976: Charlie Cross joined during the time of W. C. Barham. Evelyn Choplin Cross joined Woodland 65 years ago. Both left for Highland Baptist Church in 1954.

• August of 1986, the Edwards’ family (Fred, Joanne, David,
  & Matt) leaves Woodland and moves to Wendell, N.C.
• Eric Seneca Choplin, son of Wayne and Sheila Choplin, was born on November 26, 1986.
• Alex Lye, son of Kenneth and Kim Lye, was born on September 5, 1986.
• Miriam and Ricky Poole joined Woodland in May of 1986 and Ricky was baptized.
• Henry, Billie, and son Clay joined Woodland in May of 1986. This was the second time Henry had joined.

• Rebekah Ray, daughter of Mike and Diane Ray, was born August 30, 1988.
• Ted Dillard became the New Sunday School Director.
• Angela Elizabeth Bishop, daughter of Harvey and Wendy Bishop, was born May 20, 1988. Fellowship Hall construction was August 1 through December 31, 1989.
• Alex Milligan, son of Jim and Amy Milligan, was born February 2, 1989.
• Chuck Milligan, son of Jim and Amy Milligan, was baptized in 1989.
• Lee Church Brevoort was baptized July 19, 1989 by Rev. George Fuller. She was formerly a member of a Lutheran church.

  was born October 18, 1989.

• Tracy Ellington married David McGuyrt September 22, 1990.
• Elizabeth Preddy Choplin, daughter of Wayne and Sheila Choplin, was born on July 6, 1990.
• Robert Michael Brevoort, son of Mike and Lee Brevoort, was born on January 16, 1990.
• J.R. and Mickey Powell moved membership from Alton Baptist to Woodland in 1990.
• Amanda Powell, daughter of J.R. and Mickey Powell, was born on October 9, 1990.
• Carl Harvey Bishop, son of Harvey and Wendy Bishop, was born on February 19, 1990.
• Kevin Roy Brevoort, son of Michael and Lee Brevoort, was born on January 29, 1992.
• Zachary Taylor Reynolds, son of Robin Allen and Danny Reynolds, was born on October 26, 1992.
• Corey Jay Choplin, daughter of Larry and Kelly Choplin, was born on February 5, 1995, the same day as Joyce Hart’s birthday.
• Lora Cathryn Yount, daughter of Jerry and Mary Yount, was born on September 18, 1996.
• Hurricane Fran toppled some trees on the roof over the pastor’s study in September of 1996. No major damage, though.
• Rev. Jeff Cook became Woodland’s pastor in June of 1999.

• Christopher Addison Choplin (age 12), son of Larry and Kelly Choplin, was baptized by Rev. Jeff Cook on February 24, 2002.
• Zachary Taylor Reynolds (age 10), son of Robin Allen, was baptized by Rev. Jeff Cook on February 24, 2002.
• Rex Allen oversaw the replacement of the roof for the church and the education wing.
• Kim Barham joined Woodland on September 22, 2002. Barry Barham and Clint Hobbs joined on September 29, 2002. They were baptized as a family on October 20, 2002 by Rev. Jeff Cook.
• Robert Michael Brevoort (son of Mike and Lee Brevoort) was baptized on August 10, 2003 by Dr. Charles Dorman.
• Corey Jay Choplin (age 9), daughter of Larry and Kelly Choplin, was baptized by Dr. Charles Dorman on Sunday, October 31, 2004.
• Lora Cathryn Yount, daughter of Jerry and Mary Yount, was baptized by Dr. Charles Dorman on November 21, 2004.
• Rex Allen died on December 1, 2004.
• Katherine Dougherty, (age 10) daughter of Pat and Ann Dougherty, was baptized by Dr. Charles Dorman on Sunday, February 6, 2005.
• Doris Hauser and son Nathaniel (age 17) were baptized by Dr. Charles Dorman on Sunday, February 6, 2005.
• The family of Clark Martin (Lisa Martin, Amber and Stacey Wood, Clark Martin, Jr. and J.C. Martin) were baptized by Dr. Charles Dorman on Sunday, February 6, 2005. The family moved to Oklahoma May 27, 2005.
• Feb. 26, 2005: New Member Fellowship to welcome new members and fellowship time with prospective pastor, Dr. Tommy Seedorf.
  Feb. 27, 2005: Church voted to call Dr. Seedorf as Pastor and his wife Donna as the Minister of Music.
• Marilyn Basinger, of Franklinton, joined Woodland through a transfer of letter from Knightdale Baptist Church.
• Rev. George Fuller and wife Tammy returned to lead us in Homecoming Sunday on May 15, 2005.
• Dr. Tommy Seedorf, wife Donna, and son Nathan join the church on their first Sunday at Woodland: June 5, 2005. They moved here from Cottondale, Florida the weekend before.
• July 16-22, 2005: 38 members journeyed to Toronto, Canada on a youth mission trip to work at three sites around the 5th largest city in the world: Dixie Baptist International Church, First Alliance Church, and the Salvation Army. They also visited Niagara Falls on the Canadian side.
• David Edwards (oldest son of Joanne Edwards) and April Harris married at the Thomas Bennett House in Charleston, S.C. on July 30, 2005.
• The Haws family (Richard, Diane, Ricky, and Ryan), Kevin Roy Brevoort (son of Michael and Lee Brevoort), and Thomas Campbell (son of Kelly and Jan Campbell) joined the church on August 21 and were baptized on August 28, 2005 by Dr. Tommy Seedorf.
• Buck & Earline Bailey and Faye Hight joined the church on August 28, 2005 by transferal of letter.
• Constance Hart Whitfield was ordained as a deacon on September 18, 2005.
• A coach bus was donated to our church the week of September 4, 2005. The church voted to accept the gift on September 18.
• James Campbell (son of Kelly and Jan Campbell) joined the church on September 25 and was baptized on October 2, 2005 by Dr. Tommy Seedorf.
• October 8, 2005: A group of volunteers from Woodland and our community left for Mississippi to work with Hurricane Katrina victims through a project with NC Baptist Men. They will be making additional trips in upcoming months.
• October 29, 2005: Tommy Seedorf, with Florida blood in his veins, fell completely into the mountain creek along the Virginia Creeper bike trail in Virginia and was thus introduced to the concept of “moss on rocks.” There was snow on White Top, to give you an idea of temperature.
• Rev. Joanne Edwards‘ letter of resignation was read for the church on Sunday, October 30, 2005.
• November 6, 2005 – The first Sunday we used the fellowship hall for worship. We are adjusting to growth and hope to build a new sanctuary soon.
• Anderson Ray, son of Andy Ray, walked the aisle to join the church by admission of faith on Sunday, November 13, 2005.
• Megan Kidd and Taylor Glenn walked the aisle to join the church by admission of faith on Sunday, December 11, 2005.
• Patrick Dougherty died May 23, 2006 (father of Kate and Olivia Dougherty, husband to Ann Dougherty).
• Chestley O’Neal died April 5, 2007 at Wake Med. Hospital in Raleigh.
• New baby grand piano dedicated on Sunday, June 1, 2008. Donated by families of Mr. & Mrs. Vernon & Louise Wheeler Pearce and Mr. Carlton Jackson.
• August 17, 2008: Groundbreaking for new sanctuary.
• November 2008: Jerrianne Harvey resigned as church secretary – served for 8 years in this position.
• Oct 18, 2009: Christopher Walker was voted unanimously to be the Minister of Youth and Children.
• Oct 25, 2009: Christopher Walker and Chelsey Gibson joined the church by letter from Holly Hill Baptist Church.

• May 22, 2010: Christopher Walker and Chelsey Gibson were married by Rev. Tommy Seedorf
• January 19, 2011: Tommy Seedorf read his resignation; last sermon January 31.
• July 11-16, 2011: Youth group took part in World Changers, spending the week at Crossroads Christian School in Henderson, NC.
• July 2011 – Church voted for Rev. Baxter Prevatte to step in as our interim pastor.
• Building picked back up with a change in building companies. In August 2011, the new church building began to rapidly go up!
• February 5, 2012:  First Sunday we met in the new church sanctuary!
